Please note: I paused in creating fine art pieces while my wife and I sold our house in Colorado and relocated to Brandon, Florida. Our move was completed during April 2017, but our apartment is not conducive to painting with acrylics. However, I'm beginning to resume creating ink & watercolor pieces.
Finished 4.16.2016, ink & watercolor, 13" x 8"
This house was built in 1928 and is located in Park County, Colorado along Hwy. 285. I've found a great deal of historical information online about this place. The Pueblo Revival style, common in New Mexico, was extremely rare in Colorado at that time. The ugly gable roof was added in the 1980s, so I left it out, along with the small entry along the east wall that was added in the 50s or 60s. Thank you to Erin Showaker Brenize for the fantastic photo, and thank you to Christie LeMaire Wright for historical assistance.
Updated 5.22.2017, ink & watercolor, 7" x 8"
The western portal of tunnel #3 of the old Parkersburg, West Virginia branch of the B&O Railroad, abandoned in 1963. It retains its original 14' 2" clearance. The B&O Railroad decided to bypass the tunnel rather than increase its clearance an additional three feet. At 282 feet in length, it was known as the Trough and Long Run Tunnel. Thank you to Mike Tewkesbury for the reference photo.
Finished 9.25.2016, sold a couple weeks later, ink & watercolor with gouache, 6" x 9"
